It's safe to say, traveling is like an addiction for me. Travel has recalibrated every single molecule in my
body; it’s ingrained in me the need to see, be and do, but mostly, to go. When
I travel it’s as if I’m fueling a part of me that for most people remains
empty. Travel heightened my thirst for knowledge and adventure. It sharpened my
awareness of things going on in my own world, in my own community, and it
cultivated my curiosity about other cultures. But traveling also did something
else, something I never thought it would: it reaffirmed my love of home and
family. I don’t travel to places because I want to leave home; I travel because
I want to learn why it is that I keep coming back.
I want our youth to have a chance to discover this for themselves.
